Advanstar Appoints Patricia Joseph as CMO

New York, NY – September 22, 2006 - Advanstar Communications Inc. has appointed Patricia Joseph as the company’s first Chief Marketing Officer in a strategic move to integrate marketing initiatives and drive corporate focus toward its information-hungry customer base.

Patricia’s role will focus on aligning Advanstar’s marketing objectives with projected investment outcomes, accelerating the company’s online growth, directing new product and service offerings, and enhancing competitive advantage in business-to-business media and information. She will report to Advanstar’s Chief Executive Officer, Joe Loggia.

Patricia’s background includes extensive experience in online and print media, as well as information services. Her track record demonstrates a systematic, financially disciplined approach to growth in both large corporations and entrepreneurial ventures. Patricia has held President/CEO positions at media and information firms, Hanley Wood, LLC, and Musicnotes, Inc., as well as General Manager and Senior Marketing and Strategy positions at ACNielsen, The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation, Reed Business Information and The Washington Post Company.
